Founder and Chef Charlie McKenna lost his aunt Katherine to breast cancer in 2000, and he subsequently created BarbeCure as a means to raise funds for cancer research and positively impact families and communities affected by cancer. Funds raised are donated to the Katherine McKenna Brother's Scholarship Fund as well as a rotating charity each year.
